Our own Alan Arnold (Leavingtracks) wonderful layout is featured in the latest edition of the LCCA Lions Roar Magazine. The article contains several high quality photos of various parts of this marvelous layout, particular Alan's "tall City". Congratulations Alan, your layout deserves this attention.

I just downloaded a ‘sample article’ from Lions Collectors.org, and it features Alan’s marvelous layout, but I can’t tell whether it is the latest or an older article. It is titled “Build Up Not Out, Part 2”. If not the latest, where is this magazine available?

Either way, I read the article I downloaded, and it is great. Alan’s talents are unequalled, and particularly so for creating such breathtaking structures. I knew that he was a superb modeler, extremely resourceful in devising what material to use to create just the right effect, and his detailing is meticulous. But I had not detected his negotiating skills, as he demonstrated by purchasing a 96-foot tall (full scale) octagonal, glass skyscraper for $10!

This article is great, and if it is not the latest, I will certainly look for that one then.

Congratulations, Alan!

Alex:

The article is part 3. If you don't already belong to the LCCA, I believe you would enjoy a membership to this club. Alan's article is a good representation of the quality of their publications.

I joined a few years back when they had their annual convention at Rosemont, IL. I have really enjoyed my membership.

Thanks so very much guys....to be honest I didn't know if anyone on the forum had seen these articles.  Thank you Brian for posting this thread.  It is always nice to receive positive comments from the members of this great forum!

The 3 part series started with the April 2010 issue of Lion Roars.  The second part was in the October 2010 magazine and the 3rd and final part was planned to be in the December 2010 or February 2011 issue.  A few events kept that from happening and so finally we got back to the project and were able to publish part 3 in this February's issue.

Mike Mottler is the Editor and I just have to say that he is absolutely top notch.  He is always a pleasure to work with and makes any project a joy!  The layout of pictures in each of the articles were done very artistically.....

Again, thanks to everyone!

Alan

Hey Alan, what do mean not seen the article? IT'S GREAT! Unfortunaltely the only time you hear from your fan base is when we don't like something.

Your work is an inspiration to us all.

That said, I agree we need to give credit to the people who work to bring us the Lione Roars. With our editor Mike Mottler at the top of that list. We are fortunate to have such a professional at the helm of our clubs magazine. That goes a long way to making it the fun and readable publication it is.

Thanks to you all, Alan through Mike and everybody in between for your craftsmanships.
