On my pilot challanger, I'm modeling it to be a nuclear powered locomotive. I have some 3mm blue leds im going to swap out with the red in the ashpan to mimic how nuclear fuel really glows. Question, if I pull the power from the motor supply like it is now, should I aim for 12v or the full 18v to size the resistor? I don't see me running it full throttle, and thats if the motor controller even puts out that high of a voltage as I assume they are 12vdc motors.

Also, the firebox flicker, I assume they are red smd leds that shine on the red plastic lens, either i was going to swap out the led for blue and use cellaphane to replace the lens, or better yet throw a couple more of the 3mm blue leds and hot glue them where the board was, really don't need flickering as if it was in real life, bad things would be going on.....

Even seeing the blue glow at power would be a bad thing in real life, but I think a blue glow would be cool.
