Looks like making my own LEDs is going to be the way to go. I guess my question is, what sizes are best? I want to use some red flashing LEDs for tops of towers etc, some for building interiors? and I want to put one on my coaling tower (underneath) so it will shine down on the drack under the tower. I am worried about trying to figure out how bright these LEDs are and to pick the right ones. I am going to power from a CW-80 on the accessory side I can program the AC voltage coming out. It is set at 12 volts now, was at 9 volts from the factory.

For the flashing on tower I would use 3mm

For buildings you can use these, they are usually bright enough

If you want ultra bright use these

Size resistors accordingly and pay attention to wattage.

These are also gaining favor

If any LED is too bright a larger than minimum resistor can be used.
