Speaking of which, and bringing us back on track, sort of:

Scratch GS-3

17/64 scale, silver-soldered copper boiler, main frame machined from 1" square brass bar.  Drivers by Lobaugh, trailing truck by Henry Pearce, tender trucks cast by my father in nickel silver, all rivets individually embossed while watching the News Hour.  Decals by Overland, but we had some made by LaBelle with black outlines.  Paint is Scale Coat, baked.  Stripes are by Pilot paint pens.  Not nearly as good as a Marsh or Key, but I wouldn't trade it for one.  My soul is in this thing.

Yeah - fully appreciating things is difficult for me.  I value my scratchbuilt AC-8 far more than I did my purchased (new) PSC AC-6.

I value my new aircraft engine way more than if I had purchased it off the shelf, even though I was mostly the assembler of parts.

I am a truly horrible guitarist - I am currently struggling with the Canon in D.  Sure would be a lot easier to just listen to it on U tube.  But no - I have to struggle.

As they say, diifferent folks look at things differently.

I understand this completely, well in my own terms.

I had some good long talks with Lee about this model and this model is going to happen. Lee operates his own factory in Korea so he is i=both importer and builder. He will fund this model out of his own pocket. His $500 deposit on reservation is more than fair and then $800 more upon the start of production with the remainder of the $4500 due upon arrival of the models. The hobby needs guys like him to be building these models and his time fram ewill be about mid 2019 for delivery if not earlier. His detail and quality is second to none with punched rivets not etched and full under body. His models have ESU Loksound decoders in them with a speaker in the tender and one in the boiler. These models will be spectacular.

You, sir, have absolutely nothing....zip, nada, zero...to apologize for or be ashamed thereof.  I salute the very essence of your effort.  I would gladly buy you a beer or two (or three) to honor your effort....from a time, talent, inclination, perseverance, pride, et al of 70+ years ago.

DILLY, DILLY!!

Not into steam as you know, but a P48 GS5 for my Lark?  Yup, reserved.

JD3,

I think, truth be it known, that like myself, you like it ALL, just some of it better than others.

From what I saw in his interview at the Brass Expo, Lee is a very personable guy, and looking (earlier in this thread) at the models he built, ultra talented! I can't help but think that being able to build like that, has to give him a leg up on an importer that doesn't have his abilities.

If he has his OWN factory, as mentioned above, that adds a whole new dimension.

Take care,                                                                                    Simon

Pictures are available on his website and I for one do not take pictures of vendors items for posting.  Too fed up with people declaring something wrong, more often than not wrong themselves, mostly people who are not in the market anyway, they just want to complain, usually about the price, something I decline to enable.
