Bought a Cab 1L & Base 1L with the PowerMaster to run my conventional PW trains, and possible get into Legacy Control. I went with the preset communication channel, set the PowerMaster to 180 (even tried 135) watts, and programed my track as Track 1.  The problem is, the track powers up as I dial up the power on the remote, but the engine (my test engine - Electromotive Division 8770) just sits there and hums with its light on, and the red lights on the PowerMaster and Cab 1L Base start flashing without the engine moving - then I use the HALT button.

The 'A' on the ZW is wired to the fused lead on the Adapter Cable to the PowerMaster, and the ZW 'U' is on the non-fused wire. I have the hot rail wired  to the 'A' on the PowerMaster, and the common rail to the 'U'. PowerMaster is set to 'Run' and 'Conv'.  I have a wire from the PowerMaster 'U' to the Cab 1L Base 'U'.

The engine is one I just serviced as it needed about 14 volts to move. I cleaned the armature, brushes, gears, wheels, relubricated, and tested conventionally before connecting the Legacy system (runs great doesn't need more than about 8v). After experiencing the problem, I moved the track power from the Powermaster to the ZW - D/U posts, the engine runs great again. Tested the batteries in the remove, I hear the chirping so there good.

I don't want to do something that could burn up the electronics, and don't know what else to try.

Thanks in advance for any help you might have.
