My legacy engine sometimes runs as a conventional engine.  That is, it doesn't respond to the Cab 2 unit.  When I power up the track the engine starts.

I have 2 tracks and it does the same on each track.  Sometimes it runs fine as a Legacy engine.

I have 2 180 power supplies, 2 400 track power controller

I ave a 73-8432-250 engine  I just got it back from Lionel

Thanks

Lionel programed tmcc and legacy units to default to search for the command signal.  if your engine is coming up conventional or not responding to a signal then you have a ground plane issue or in the rare case a loose antenna in the engine.

put you hand over the engine and see if you get it to respond.  if so you will have to fix your ground plane issue.

do you have your legacy base plugged into a power strip?  if so remove it and plug the legacy base directly into a properly grounded outlet.

I'd first clean the track, and second have the locomotive close to the spot where the power drop/Legacy connection is.  I have a locomotive that will not see the signal if the track is dirty, or it's on the loop on the far side from the power drop where the Legacy signal comes to the layout.

Also that number you gave is not the locomotive, it's the manual.  The locomotive number starts with a 6-.
