I'm really feeling the urge to add a General 4-4-0 to my locomotive fleet. Have one? I'd love to see it!

Robert, those are sweet! Are they MTH?
Think they are SMR models
Dave
Dave's right - they are SMR.
"...good generals all. "
Well, now, I do suppose that depends on your geographical point of view.
Original General basic set. Added the horse car and the Sheriff and Outlaw.

And whether you are still smarting over losing the "War to Defend Slavery."

I love it! Is this the set from a few years ago, the re-issue?

No, that's an original from 1959. I am not original owner but I picked it up in excellent shape.
Johnstrains - that's quite a find.

Sooner or later, you’ll own Generals.

I understand General Balloon had an inflated ego...
Rusty
I have two of these chromed ones. One has been modded to double head behind this one; cowcàtcher removed and a coupler added to the pilot truck.
(70s MPC, smoke, & an open frame motor)
I also have two of the PW yellow gift boxes with inserts for the Genrals (like above) There is a freight car type box and passenger car type box. When I found them in my garage attic, one had it's unused SO track still inside..shiny.
I have an original green Wells Fargo Gunfighter car to pull with them. A prized possession since I was a boy..clack/bang! It's the reason I need a General

There's an original "Halloween" set at our local antique mall right now. Priced accordingly, but would love to have it...
I acquired this nice original set from a neighbor a couple summers ago. He was the original owner, his dad bought it for him for Christmas 1960. This was the Deluxe "5-Star" version with Smoke, Whistle, Magne-Traction, Headlight and Illuminated Cars. Played with very little and all in the original box.
I'm a Standard Gauge collector so I eventually sold it to fund more SG purchases but it was hard to let that set go it was so nice. Had the original receipt from Two Guys department store... $32.88 !
The additional $8.39 was for some extra Super-O track which he also still had.
