i don't have great shots but I have a few that do show a scene that I would like to be in, and that is, as I recall, the point of this thread.

The 'party train' stops at the station to pick up more party goers:

Station [MTH) and 2 passenger cars - night

Same 'party train' with a party outside as well:

zzz - Station and passenger cars

Here's one in which I did spend many hours when younger.  Miss these in today's world:

Drive In Overall from Vending Area - Twilight - USED

And who of us hasn't enjoyed a treat while there?

Food Area Lit - Dusk

One of (most of) our favorite childhood 'events', yelling 'Trick or treat':

z - Halloween_Dusk_2

Tourist attraction unlike any other in the world:

z - Easter - night includes lited bunny house

And I can HONESTLY say I am in this scene.  This is Waltburg - a small town of 6 houses of models of my family's houses, inlcuing mine:

z - Waltburg overall looking down the street - night

This is my night engine house with smoke. I installed a MTH smoke unit in the back connected to a small brass tube that connects to aquarium tubbing. There is a three way aquarium valve to adjust the smoke to each engine bay. It works well. Donroundhouse night [best)

This is very cool Don...  I wouldn't mind seeing a daylight shot of this as well'...

I was looking at past pictures I have taken on my layout, though not much work done on it scenery wise. I do have some night type shots.

Even when I do redo my track plan, I will probably not had much in the way of scenery, as this updated plan will probably been redone in the future again.

John, were did you get the shelves for the Hardware Store? Looks great. Don

Don, is it an image placed behind the window display?

Scale Rail,

Bobby D is correct, that it is an image. But its a bit more than that. I took a lot of interior photos of the real Ayres Variety store (the store has been in my hometown since 1946), then photo shopped them together to look like aisles as well as to get the proper perspective when placed in a semicircular strip.  The desk, birdhouse, people at the cash register and all the window displays are real.  Here is a top view of the first floor

The woman coming down the stairs is underneath that web of wires behind the first window on the left.

Here is what the strip looks like.

Ayres 06 copy

It has been heavily photo shopped: each aisle and end cap is a separate photo, distorted to get the perspective right, the flags have been modified, the lights angled inward, etc

For the upper floors I took a more conventional approach:

That reply is far above and beyond the "call of duty".

So thanks!

Ted, I never understood the interest in trailers....oh, youth so wasted.  Great photo shoot, and talk about 'setting a scene'...ooo la la!

Thanks Ed, I have a few more I'd like to post.  Not sure if they may be to risque for the forum.... I don't want to present anything that may cause concern in spite of the real filth on the net, TV and the social media sites'...  Your thoughts''''....

Well...Ted....I delete those photos because in my opinion they don't belong here regardless of the filth on thenet, TV and social media sites....  We don't want that here....

WOW!!  Fantastic images everyone!

Walt, we always look forward to your builds, you just need to post MORE images for us!!

Lots of nice pic's here.  I love experimenting with camera setting to get a good night shot.  It's a lot harder than I thought and I've been messing up night shots for years especially when we had film in our camera's.  Now with digital, no wasted prints..  Just thought I'd throw one up on the site here.  The city scene was taken with a Canon SX50HS with manual settings, on a tripod, NO flash, ISO 80, F stop 6.3, Aperture 4 and exposure time of 15 seconds.  The only lighting used are a series of blue flood lights mounted permanently to make the night scene more realistic when I'm running trains and also to give me some type of light in the room   The city is a 10 foot section on a riser of all H.O. buildings on the layout for depth perception.  The engine is a repainted, reworked Lionel working its way thru the switches back to the engine facility after a hard days work.IMG_0711
