Here are some Marx trains. All the first time posting on this forum- some added recently others that I never got to post:

Modern/New/Flynn Marx- Western Pacific boxcar.

have ALWAYS been on the lookout for the 2071 and 2072 in good condition- finally landed one about two weeks ago!60A4B66A-ED39-46D8-9934-2E752E421DCC69C56164-BD83-4F68-8A03-766EA19FF447

Here’s an interesting variation- Marx Monon 81F with the single Axle motor.

543870B6-1953-4A6F-84AD-43E53F1E9DB9notice the screw placement- the double axle motor had the screw in roughly the center of the litho front truck. No screw hole there53841B17-1F9C-4055-AF3A-578E9CA0A2E1

I do have some issues running this one after I removed the motor. Someone had it in there JUST perfectly, now a portion of the rear metal piece, which fits into the slots on the motor, pushes it down creating a drag

This is not a customized thing that someone threw together as shown in this  video https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=gh02Is4HyRI

Still a neat piece, regardless of current running issues

SteveFromPA - I agree it isn't a customized piece someone threw together - it's an exact match for a Marx prototype that sold at auction a couple of years ago.  Yours would suggest this version actually made it into production.

Underside of Marx prototype engine

The prototype shell is a KCS diesel...and speaking of KCS diesels - this is one of my favorite sets

  It's not an actual "as issued" Marx set.  I bought a boxed partial set several years ago which was missing two cars.  I decided I didn't care to recreate the set since I already had examples of the original cars so I got a KCS B unit and a C&O gondola and put this one together.

@Robert S. Butler thank you for that information! There was previously a video on YouTube discussing both the KCS and Monon with the Marx "mini motor" and I found a blurb in one of my books/magazines about it(since misplaced). Regardless, both the KCS & Monon were outfitted with the "Mini-Motor" at some point. In fact, the black "shield/front bumper" and the rear "bumper", which is "commonly" found on the mini-motor Monon are parts that came from the KCS.

@RoyBoy posted:

Marx did not make any B units in the almost scale size tinplate Santa Fe #21. I made these myself with the help of some friends.

Marx made B units in the later plastic diesels and in the much smaller tinplate diesels, but not in the big ones.

Well silly me!! I didn't catch those B units in the original post!

Are they also litho graph units? IF so... that definitely requires a "How'd 'ja doit???" question.
