So it's now early Sunday morning -- perhaps still Saturday evening for some folks.  And I was checking a few things on Charlie Ro's website.  In case anyone's interested he's down to just the #2195 Y6b steamer, which means 2 of 3 road-numbers are "out of stock" already.  But that's not why I'm starting this thread.    The real reason is I double-checked for a long-awaited piece of rolling stock that I'm really hoping Lionel will produce someday... it's 6-27092 and I have a bunch on order with Charlie.

It was cataloged in Lionel's 20-TWELVE Volume 1 catalog, and Charlie's website is now showing another slipped ETA out to 9/10/2015.   So at this rate, it may be nearly 4 years from catalog to delivery for a boxcar IF Lionel comes through this time.  And then I took a very close look at the boxcar again and my eyes stopped and stared at the tagline "How tomorrow moves".  And then it dawned on me... we're never really gonna see this cool boxcar produced at all, because it will always be scheduled for delivery TOMORROW.

Life imitating art...  Lionel style.

Have a good night everyone!

NICE artwork (livery?), but I much prefer the twin-stack CSX "How Tomorrow Moves" container trainset from MTH. I see these come through Nashville, TN just about every day.

The MTH set is powered by an AC4400, which also has the new logo!

MTH has also produced (for separate sale) the non-articulated TTX flatcars with CSX twin stacks with two different numbers.

Art, I have that MTH set... and a few extra CSX twin-stack cars, along with two other matching CSX diesels with the intermodal logo.  So I'm off to a great start for this nice-looking unit train.  I was just hoping to add a few of these boxcars to the train as well for a little variety.

I'm also hoping Atlas-O produces some CSX "How Tomorrow Moves" containers for their soon-to-be-announced 53' well-cars that were previewed/pre-announced in York.  Hopefully they don't have the same sense of humor as Lionel's overseas factory does with respect to "How Tomorrow Moves"!!!

Well David, you may be on to something here.  I'm not sure what it is exactly, but they have certainly lured you in, and kept your interest for four years.

I've noticed with the past couple of Lionel items I received recently (i.e., the Y6b and the Vision Line reefers w/sound) that the shipping carton's date-of-manufacture indicated March 2015 -- roughly 3 months ago.

Here we are now in mid-June 2015, and Lionel's dealers are being told this boxcar is due in early September.  In an ideal world, it would be nice to think that somebody at Lionel stateside can pick up the phone TODAY and talk with somebody in China who can actually confirm which products are well underway in the manufacturing process for them to be available in September.  If they can't do that, or the product isn't even on the assembly line yet... then it's unlikely this cool boxcar will really show up Stateside in another 3-4 months.

At the end of the day, this stuff gets here when it ships... and that's part of life in our corner of the world nowadays.
