I have some light towers with lamps in a shade (see picture). I can not grab the bulbs with my fingers. I tried needle nose pliers but the bulbs did not like them. Any suggestions on how to change light bulbs?

Try something sticky like a one inch piece of double sided tape which would be sticky to the bulb glass and your finger.
A little squirt of light oil on the socket might help loosen things up.
What Franktrain said. I use a small piece of heat shrink tubing to remove lights like that. If it is really stuck, use a piece of heat shrink slightly bigger than the lamp, put the heat shrink over the lamp and then apply some heat (heat gun or blow dryer). Let it shrink over the bulb and then turn.
I really like these Marx lights & have many.
Tweezers with cloth (or liquid or regular plastic) electrical tape on the ends for bulb removal, then a tiny bit of green Scotchbrite scrubby pad wrapped around a drill bit for cleaning the socket, then some dielectric bulb grease from the auto parts store, will condition these to last another 50 years.
