HI,

I just received a MTH Pennsy N-6B caboose, MTH 20-91645 (one with operating signalman), and the interior and marker lights are really weak if come on at all.

I called the selling dealer and he put one on his layout and it did the same weak/dim interior lights. Suggested opening it up and looking for damaged wiring/bad joints.  If not comfortable with doing that, they said return it.

Has anyone experienced this and how did you rectify situation??  Or did it work perfect!!

Thanks  Mike D

I have the Nickel Plate Road version of this caboose. I had sent mine back in for a bad coupler and dim interior light. It turns out that the windows are tinted. I'm guessing MTH built it that way to hide the mechanism. When compared it to a regular version of the same caboose, I can see the window difference. The light looks decent in a dark room. Hope that helps.

Thanks Paul,

I called Mr Muffin's trains where I bought it and they took out a new one and it did the same so no sense in sending back.  Looked carefully at glass and you are correct it is tinted.

Probably will open up and change windows. Maybe somebody in my club and show me a lighting board that I can install so lights, especially markers, are brighter.

NIce caboose tho.  Don't usually do Pennsy but got a great deal on B 6 switcher so had to have a caboose. This looked like correct one and cheaper then brass.

Thanks again,  Mike D
