My experience is the extremely small wires, below the cab, going to the drawbar break at the solder joint. Another common issue is the spring wire contacts in the drawbar recede into the drawbar and no longer make contact, you can pop them back out and realign them with a tiny screwdriver. Hope this helps.
The previous post is correct from my experience as well. The speaker is in the tender and all the electronics are in the locomotive, that's usually the disconnect point. The drawbar connector and wiring are pretty fragile.
I have an Lc+ with Bluetooth engine that is really superb— except the sound is dead.
it was off and on and died completely, although all other functions work.
what do you think it could be, and is it fixable? I love this engine!
I had a similar issue with a LionChief Plus Hudson when it had little run time. I thought it was the drawbar. I sent back to Lionel and it turned out to be a sensor in the locomotive that sends the signal to the tender.
