I have switches set up like this on my home layout so I can do a full run from an inside reversing loop,
then all the way around the outside main line, then back to an inside reversing loop at the opposite end of the layout. Takes a little trial and error to wire up but after that the route switches automatically.

The OP's other question was about powering the 027 switches directly from a transformer. Is that possible?

"Unlike their bigger brother, the "O" gauge switch, the 027 switch is designed to receive its power from variable track voltage and works best between 10 to 14 volts. It does not have a "fixed voltage" tap... ...that is unless you perform this very simple, modification."
