Can a Lionel 180 Watt Power supply be used as a stand alone power source when connected to a terminal block to power either TMCC, Legacy or DCS engines without using a TPC or ZW controller? It has a on/off switch and a circuit breaker.

Thanks.  mokemike

Hope this helps answer your questions:

TMCC/Legacy.  You can cut off the PH180's plug and use a regular lockon to connect directly to the track.  No need for a PM, TPC or new ZW if not running conventional.  If you don't want to cut off the plug, use either the TMCC Direct Lockon which accepts the plug

or the TMCC TPC Cable set for other connections.

The TMCC Direct Lockon is NOT recommended with DCS since it messes with the DCS signal.

For DCS.  Again, you can cut off the PH180's plug and wire it to a terminal of the TIU or use the TPC cable set and connect that to the TIU.

Thanks for all the helpful information. I've set the 180 power supply up using the cable adapters that allow you to plug into the end of the power supply plug a that converts the end to two pigtails after crimping terminal lugs on each lead. I'm not using the Lionel lock on at all. I  don't even have a Lionel direct lock on so I'm using a MTH terminal block to connect to the track or I could just wire directly to a track pigtail wrapping each with electrical tape, or use shrink wrap over a solderless connector on each end.
