Put it together after putting on traction tires. Would only run in forward, no neutral or rev. Now just shorts out. Only had eng apart, can't see any wire problems. Any and all advise is appreciated.

When I go to the Lionel search page and put in your product number, I get no results. Are you sure that's the right number?

Pretty sure the PRR B6 is 6-18000; used to own one.
The thread title says it's a PRR 6-8-6, not a B6 0-6-0.

PRR1950 - When you go to Lionel's Support page select 'Repairs & Service' at the top, then 'Service Manuals' on the drop down menu, then type in the product number (6-18010) in the space provided, and then scroll down to the bottom of the page - because pictorial info is there.
Jim - You didn't inadvertently hit the 'Lock Out' switch when you were replacing the traction tires did you? Because after my own experience (lol) with some of Lionel's older steamers this is the 1st thing I think of (and would check) when an engine stays in one mode and won't change.
Incidentally, your Post didn't indicate whether you've got the Owner's Manual for this engine or not. If you don't the OM can be found in the same location of Lionel's website that I explained to PRR1950 above.
