Here is the Lionel 1956 instruction book covering wiring and using many items including transformers, accessories, operating cars, signals and track.
Ran it through Power PDF to make it searchable so you can type in a word instead of scrolling through all the pages.

Thanks for posting. It is very complete set of instructions. I had to use Landscape to get the best print of few pages I printed on my laser jet HP 1022 toner printer.
