Would someone tell me if the smoke unit fan is supposed to stay on when the engine is at rest?  My engine puffs smoke when it is moving, but the fan does not function when it stops moving.  The smoke unit stays on, but no steady stream of smoke comes out.  Maybe I'm having a senior moment but I thought it was supposed to keep functioning at idle.  I just happened to notice it a couple of days ago.  All of my other Legacy steam locomotives produce steady streams of smoke when the engines stop.

Yep, the Legacy 10-wheeler doesn't do idle smoke, that's one annoyance with mine as well.  I've thought about replacing the fan controller with my Super-Chuffer to fix that, just haven't gotten around to it yet.  This locomotive has an odd cobbled up bunch of custom boards, I think early on in the Legacy product line they didn't have things totally laying flat yet.

I suspect the newer one that just came out has a different board and probably does the idle smoke properly.

I apologize for the wrong ID of a ten wheeler(4-6-0).  I don't know what I was thinking-or was I thinking!  I very much appreciate the information.  A 2-6-0 is a mogul-I'm just trying to make myself feel better!!!!  Oh well, no one is perfect.  I have the new Lionel 6-82271 NYC 4-6-0 on it's way(there I got it right). I was planning on double heading the new one with the old one.  It will be a bit weird, but placing the old one as the second engine will be a bit more prototypical.  The NYC used these engines exclusively on the Putnam Division.  I don't know if they ever double- headed them, but I sure as heck am going to do it.   Thanks again for the confirmation that my unit was "normal." Gunrunnerjohn, a special thanks to you!
