Anyone else out there ever encounter this name? I presume it was whoever packed it.

I have seen names like that on boxes before. I believe that is the name of the person or Forman of the crew that made the box at the box company. Not associated with Lionel.
It opens up a whole new arena of collecting. See how many different names on Lionel boxes you can find...
I have a lot of original post war boxes, and am pretty sure I would have noticed if there were any names on the inside flap. I'll be looking at them more closely though.
Finally got around to checking the wife's original 2340-25 box. No stamp, at least on the open end. The other end is still sealed, so if a stamp is there I'll never know. Hers was made by St. Joes.
I heard a rumor that Carmen DiGiosa was Mario Caruso's niece by marriage. Mario was so impressed with the quality of the corrugated boxes that she supervised that he fixed her up with his nephew. And thus the term, "Caruso coupler."
I like that theory! Makes sense.
