Anyone know how to open one of these up.
Just took a quick glance at it this morning before I went out. Didn't see any obvious ways to open it. No visible screws that I could see except for one in the center that appears to hold the lamp assembly in. I thought I'd seen pictures of the cupola removed but that seems like it's on solid like a rock.

I have one of these in a box but never looked closely to see how it is assembled. Based on its age, I would think it, probably, has metal tabs. A lot of pre-war stuff used tabs and this piece is a pre-war carryover.
Dan is right the whole caboose is held together with tabs. Handrail assembly and under the body.

Be very gentle bending those tab, they are old and fragile.
There are 6 tabs. 2 on each end that hold the hand railings on and then 2 more at the center.
Don't be suprised if the 2 center ones break off.
