Nice car, but that is the tin shell, 2555/2755/2855/6555 car.  Of course it used the same frame as the 2955.  

By Jove, I think you're right; that would explain the rather light weight, which came as somewhat of a surprise. I guess I was expecting it to be die cast...

...am planning on seeing if I can swap the plastic Athearn trucks for some heavier die cast type.

Here is a shot of the underside, showing the addition of the "scale" bolster:

...nice enough and sprung, but being plastic, it doesn't weigh anything.

Here is the metal, sprung truck I had on hand:
