Hello all,

This past weekend I picked up a fairly crusty #38 that had a pretty hard life. I rewired the motor and it seems to be running nice down the track. However the body is shot. Some of the seems have separated and it's missing all of the stanchions, bell, handrails, headlight, etc. All of these pieces are pretty easy to replace, except for 1. One of the handrails next to the door is missing. The handrail that looks like it's part of the stamping but I guess is soldered on? Any idea where to either find one or a good way to make a new one? I was thinking about getting some wire and trying to fabricate it but I don't think it will look very good. I was also thinking about perhaps scrapping the body and finding a replacement.

Thank you,

Sam

PS, the picture attached is just pointing out the part in question, not the unit I picked up the other day.

Just FYI, that is a #50 loco.

Actually if you look close it's stamped as a 38, hard to see but it's there. Also, I thought the 50 had all 4 wheels geared as drive wheels?

Either way, I chose that picture because you can see the handrail clearly and even if it is a 50, it's the same handrail.

The hand rail is indeed a 'solder on' item. Part # 38/ 42 , 1 3/4" solder on rail @ $1.50 each, in stock.  Harry

Thanks Harry, once I strip the paint off and take a good look at the condition of the body, I'll place and order.

And the MEW wheels I bought from you the other day fixed my CMC loco, thanks!
