I have a Lionel 38053 Mohawk. Is it possible to upgrade from 2 to 4 cuffs per revolution?

You can replace the two lobe cam with a 4 lobe. A few of us do that. Likely easier for most is use GRj’s Chuff generator. For a new cam you either need machine tools or a 3D printer or if you have a lot of patience use a chunk of plastic and file it into a square.

Piece of cake with the Chuff-Generator, but if you don't also use the Super-Chuffer II, you will need a 5VDC power source.
Hi John - Have the same engine as well. One question - Do I have to add the ERR Cruise Commander as well, or will the Super Chuffer work on it's own with the as installed TMCC hardware? Thanks

The Chuff-Generator and Super-Chuffer II are compatible with most any TMCC locomotive with fan driven smoke. Since it uses a tach reader on the flywheel, the Chuff-Generator obviously requires a flywheel. The two units can be used individually, but if you use the Chuff-Generator without the Super-Chuffer, you do need a separate 5VDC supply to power it. Here's a typical wiring diagram. Note that installation in a plain TMCC locomotive is very similar, they have the same signals available.
