Lionel 497 Coaling Station Moves S L O W L Y

I have a newer (not PW) model of the 497 Coaling Station operating on track power. The O ring it came with was stretched too far and the lubricant was hardened. I replaced the O ring (with Danco #45  1 3/8 x 1 3/16 x 3/32) , dug out the old lubricant and re-lubed everything. Now it runs smoothly but it is awful slow moving up and down. There is no train on the track currently and the track is testing at 15 volts from ZW-L . Videos I have seen (mostly postwar models) operate much faster. Do the newish models just run extremely slow or am I missing something that could speed things up ?

Had the same problem. Just finished fixing mine today. Put red and tacky grease in the gears. A little light oil around the motor and gearbox where needed. Tray was still stalling going up and down. Found in the instructions the front columns must be free of dirt and grease for proper operation of receiving tray. A light coat of silicone lubricant will restore smooth operation,if binding or jerky motion is noticed. Just used Q-Tips to clean the front columns where the tray rides. After they were clean took silicone spray on Q-Tips and paper towel to the columns. Works great now.
