Lionel 6-16983 PRR Well Hole type flatcar.

This O scale model is a six axle well hole flatcar that is patterned after the PRR F33 flatcar. The prototype F33 was used to carry oversize loads and is very similar in concept to modern well type container cars. The Lionel model also includes two reels for loads.

Note: The prototype PRR F33 car numbers were 470080 to 470089. The prototype PRR trucks were Buckeye class 3F-F3 and had a 9 foot wheelbase.

Lionel 6-16983 PRR Well Hole type flatcar with custom oversize load.

Here is a "crated load" that would be typically transported in this type of car. The load is seated in the well and allows for a lower center of gravity. The model also requires chain or cable tie-downs to restrain the load (not shown).

Here is the "crated load" used with this car. As shown the load fits in the well. The load could also be used on a depressed center flatcar as well.
