Hey guys!

I have an opportunity to buy a new six pack of hopper cars from my local train store. I have a Pere Marquette 1227 Berk and am looking for some prototypical freight. I'm new to the hobby and have a couple of questions. Are these prototypical for this loco as the C&O owned the Pere Marquette for a while? These were made in 2000, are they standard size? Are they a quality built car? The price on these are awesome and would allow me to build a nice consist at a low cost. Any help you guys can provide would be great! Thanks in advance!

A very nice set of cars. There are 2 six pacts plus some others totaling 15 cars. I ran them behind my C&O berk.

Yes. All Lionel products beginning with 6-17xxx are scale.

They had 2 sets each of C&O and Virginian and each were numbered 0-5 and 6-11 or something like that. I had 4 sets of C&O's, 2 complete sets but since downsized a bit and sold 1 complete set. They were blown out at York in the early 2000's for about $110 to $120 a 6 pack. Great looking cars and buy 2-6 packs.
