I have a old Lionel 6-18206. Santa Fe dash 840B. Out of the blue one set. It has a e unit and strobe. I wondering if anyone has upgraded one of these to tmcc. I’m looking to see if it is possible to install coil couplers on this unit. Is there clearance with the pilot. Shank size for centering pin.

As far as I know since I’ve had this set, the B models of the Lionel US made Dash 8’s with the 4 wheel trucks use the same standard coupler length and design as almost all other locomotives.
The engine should be able to use the common 2” ElectroCoupler type ERR sells just fine.

ERR AC Commander, Railsounds Commander, and electro couplers should be it. Pretty simple upgrade.
