That did the trick. Thanks guys. I just picked this locomotive up a while back and never tried the smoke till today. Smoke system will need some upgrades soon.

What happens is the R2LC gets programmed for a cab light instead of smoke.  However, the cab light changes polarity, depending on direction.  So, it only works in reverse when programmed wrong.  Other folks have complained the fan pulses and they don't get smoke, that's because theirs was programmed for a strobe.

I will have to get this one ready for 4 chuffs and a super chuffer. Is there any issues with keeping the ditch lights with CG and super chuffer upgrade?

Ditch lights?  Do you mean the ground inspection lights?  I've wired these to the output of the Chuff-Generator for automatic operation.  I'd use a relay if you're going to keep all the incandescent lights as that would be a bit much for the FET on the Chuff-Generator.  The Chuff-Generator automatically turns off the ground lights at around 10 scale MPH.

If you use LED's, you can wire them in series/parallel and tie them directly to the Chuff-Generator.  I typically wire three in series with a 470 ohm resistor on each side, then wire those two strings in parallel between track power and the ground light output of the Chuff-Generator.
