Lionel 6-38573 Sharknose silence

Open it up and reseat the sound board.  That is the normal fix on my lionel engines.

Wrong type of board for this fix, this is a recent Legacy release with the RS-Lite board.

Reading RR, could you please be more explicit about reseating the sound board. Do you mean pulling it out and reinserting? And where exactly is it?

What GRJ is saying, which Reading RR may have overlooked, is that your engine does not have the Modular style boards as some earlier Legacy and all TMCC engines have.

In your case,these Legacy Sharknose Units, do not have the modular style boards, instead you have the, now more common, Legacy Railsounds Lite board which is not "Reseatable" (May be a made up word lol) like say a Railsounds 4 or 5 board was.

I don't have a lot of experience here, GRJ is going to be your guy for that info, but I would begin by opening the units up and seeing if you see anything disconnected. Also check to see if the speaker has gotten anything metal stuck in it. Diesel engines are infamous for finding bits of steel you may have left behind when working on the layout.

One of my CCII sharks had a bad sound pot in the front doors that affected the sound.  Maybe that's your problem as well?

Do the simple things first. Move the volume pot from max and low several times. 

Thanks for all the input. The engine suddenly "cured" itself when I started it up. I'm baffled. Full sound now.
