I just bought a Lionel 6-8690 trolley (new - in box, 1986) to replace my #60 trolley whose helical gear was stripped. The 8690 runs & reverses OK, but it sounds like a meat grinder. I lubed the motor, the wheel bearings and the drive gears (spur on this model, not worm & helical as on the #60). But it still is loud. The old 60 was not exactly quiet even in its heyday, but not like this. I'm wondering if that's just the nature of this model?
