Lionel 6-9815 NYC reefer as modified.

This Lionel "Standard O" reefer is a very basic model with a plastic body and underframe. It includes Lionel metal "sprung" trucks. The model is lettered for NYC and includes the NYC "Early Bird" logo. Not certain that NYC actually had 40 foot reefers with this decoration.

This model is typical of other similar Standard O cars that have a "shortened" wheelbase to allow operation on O-27 track. My preference is to extend the wheel base by moving the truck "pivot" points. Photos show before and after views of the underframe.
