I promised in another topic to do these tests, posting the results here for clarity.

Attached photos show scope traces of Lionel 91 circuit breaker trip test. These were done with the short circuited output of a 1063; I varied the voltage setting and the breaker adjustment and it made no difference whatsoever in the trip time.

Yellow trace is 10A per division, blue trace is transformer voltage at 20V per division.

Photo Lionel 91 Trip shows result of a clean trip, circuit was made before transformer was energized. Trip time is about 4 milliseconds. Photo Lionel 91 Reset shows current when the breaker is tripped and reset into a short; the two little blips to the left of the main event are the contacts bouncing when they close. Trip time here is a little over 5 milliseconds.

A very admirable performance! Looks like a very good fast breaker within its limitations!
