Guys,

I have a Lionel Century Club PRR Shark A unit that I’m having a problem with. After running the engine on my layout with no problems I decided it was time grease the gears and oil the axles again. After I finished I put it back on the rails and tried to run it. The engine started jerking both in forward and reverse. I reprogrammed the engine. Tried it again. Still jerking. I then removed the shell and turned the flywheels to check for binding. None found. I reseated the 2RLC board. Same result continued jerking. Is there anything else I should try? Any help would be appreciated!

Dave

Hmmm, it seems odd that oiling the axles and putting grease on the gears would cause the electrical problem. Did you remove the motors and put grease on the worm gear?

Removing the motors could be an issue if you have a problem with alignment.  I've seen more than once where the motor had to have a small shim to stop binding, probably a defective motor or motor mount, but I just fix them and move on.
