Even though most Lionel engines work just fine, they can sometimes have their issues... I have a Lionel Sd 70 ACE #1988 and it's been giving me some trouble over the last couple of years. It has this peculiar issue with the rail sounds that nobody can seem to fix.
If anyone has any ideas for possible solutions or has an engine with similar issues I'm all ears! Thanks!

Maybe you should do a video of just the problem you're having.
John, If it wasn't my computer audio breaking up. I think it is audio breakup/distortion after a bit of time running.
I noticed he was using a CW-80 for power. So, what is the normal current draw of a Lionel SD70?

To be honest with you I don't know what the power draw of an SD 70 is but I'm pretty sure its high, it's a big engine.

The thing is the sound on mine works, sort of... I don't know, if I had the engine sent back to lionel, would they charge me for shipping on top of the repair costs? Also the sound could be a result of some malfunction in the sound board or the speaker.
