Lionel ES44AC Oil Train Set - VIDEO Added (12/10/19)

I am still awaiting the BNSF oil train.  I received the 3 add on tank cars over a month ago.  

Wow a whole fleet of ES44AC in one credit card hit.  Luckily around Christmas there isn't any other spending going on in life.  <grin>

Hey Jim. It is a good thing that we have to preorder our trains most of the time. I knew this day was coming when I ordered 8 months ago so I budget money each month to cover the credit card bill when it comes next month...cheers!

They made a nice set box for it. I unpacked a few working at Nicholas Smith last Friday. Post pictures when it arrives!

I received a few of the ES44ac's. They came out real good. No issues. Lionel added extra packing material around the couplers so you won't see any sagging or detached/broken couplers. Here's a few photos. I'm still waiting on oil can set.

Excellent video.....thank you very much. My set is still sitting somewhere in the bowels of the FED EX shipping system.

It was scheduled for delivery Wednesday......now maybe tomorrow.

I hope the truck or warehouse is at least heated....it is cold here in the northeast.

Can someone post a picture of the CitiRail version (if they have been delivered yet)? I'm still waiting on mine to ship and I just want to see if they actually got the side stripes wrong so I know ahead of time what I am getting.

They are limited edition, built to order, so only the model railroad stores would have photos of the final product.

My older ES44's have it too. 

Looks like a fantastic set! I have the non powered UP ES44 on order but won't be picking it up for a couple weeks.

I am eager to have the "whooop" !!!!!!

I ordered this set, with the non powered engine, and 3 pack add on. Also ordered the Erie Mining Train with non powered unit. Looking forward to getting my sets. Only got the 3 pack tank add ons so far, I will be going to Nicholas Smith to pick up mine soon.

Hello John. Both the tank cars (TILX) and the covered hoppers (BNSF) have the thumb tack coupler. I guess they still have a big supply of them to get rid of. I thought I heard at one point Lionel was phasing out the thumb tack once the current supply was depleted and going back to the old style.

Hey bigtruckpete.....that is a good question about more pics and video of my layout. Over a year ago, I was having discussions with Allan Miller about a full feature in the magazine showing my new layout. Back then, I was no where near as finished as I am now.

We had an agreement not to post too many pics or video of the new layout to you guys before the article was written. Well, time marches on and I am at a point where I could do the article. I am close to 90% finished with just my Midwest small town to complete.

I need to talk again with Allan and see if he is still interested in working on a feature article for 2020. I would like to do another one (my old layout was the feature in Run 255) but if he declines, then I will give ahead and share.

I thought my ES44s would arrive today, but my packages were late to arrive in California. They only got to Los Angeles by around 2 PM my time, I'm in San Diego, and they were both updated with "Scheduled delivery: Pending" as soon as they got to Los Angeles. I only hope that they will be delivered tomorrow and while my mom is still at home. Fingers crossed...

In any case, photos of my CitiRail unit will probably be delayed until tomorrow...

IIRC it was mentioned here that they are staying with the new unsprung truck design, just making a "tackless" coupler arm for it.

Well one of my pre-orders showed up and by shear luck it just so happened to be the CitiRail version.

Runs great with no issues and bluetooth works flawlessly. They even got the side stripes on the nose correct.
