Does anybody know the number of the folding metal tunnel that would have been sold in 1957? I see one for 1959-66, and some from 27-42, but nothing 43-58 other than #119 which is plastic. I had one as a kid, metal with a center hinge, but now wonder if it was a Marx tunnel.

Betcha it is a Marx tunnel, of which they had two versions, one is a green farm scene (l had as kid) l, other a mountain scene l would have preferred, but don't have . Somebody probably has a boxed one ..l'd be interested to know if two versions had different item numbers.? I used to see boxes ones in shows.
Yes, after pondering it for a while now, it was a Marx tunnel, and like you, the one with the farm scene and not the train scene. I stared at both of them trying to remember the one I had way back when, and the loco scene did not ring any bells so guessing it was the farm. Plus I remember it being red inside and the loco tunnel is gray. Which makes me wonder why my folks got me a Lionel set with a Marx tunnel unless they were both available at the Sears and Roebuck display. Like most, I still have that train set from my youth, but the tunnel is long gone, where, I do not know.
