Lionel H16-44 Strange Behavior "Mind of Its Own"

Hi Folks,

My Lionel H16-44 has started acting strangely. Does not respond to Cab-1 commands. But when power is applied to the track the engine start up sounds kick in and sometimes the loco starts moving along at a slow speed, all without any Cab-1 commands. The horn even blows randomly. ???

Everything seems to be hooked up. Beeping sound emits from controller when buttons pushed. Fresh batteries. Red light flashes on TMCC receiver box when I make Cab-1 commands.

So I am assuming it is a problem with the loco receiving TMCC commands...

Was working fine yesterday.

Re-check your connections to the outside rail from the command base and make sure they are all tight. Has anything else changed on the layout since yesterday? Any rewiring?

No changes or rewiring. Doesn't mean something didn't come loose... Will check the connections.
