Lionel Legacy Boston & Maine 2-6-0 Mogul

I know this is a somewhat old subject. I purchased new a Lionel Legacy B&M 2-6-0 Mogul (SKU, 6-84069) which like many others in that release run erratic or choppy, especially noticeable at slow speeds. Even after Lionel sent it on a world tour the issue doesn't seem any better. I even went so far as to obtain an RMA from Lionel but decided not to send it back as I was told they would likely keep it and issue credit toward an online purchase from their corporate web store. Some time has passed and I would like to know if anyone has finally figured out what the problem is. Thanks

Michael, 

I purchased the same engine. As Norton mentioned, I saw that a bushing was missing on the front drivers. I crudely made a bushing from a piece of black wire sheathing and it seemed to help a little bit. BUT definitely not a cure to the problem(s) they had.  Some of the older TMCC moguls had a bushing, others had a shouldered bolt.  

I was fortunate that mine came back from Lionel working very well. I never did look to see if my bushing was removed / replaced.  

It is unfortunate that these couldn't all get fixed, I haven't taken my off the track since it came back
