Does anyone have the Lionel 6-34568 Santa Fe PA1 A-A set?

I emailed Lionel support and reported that the MARS light on my new #51 lead loco stays on steady and does not blink, either running alone or in MU.  I asked if it was supposed to blink and they would only tell me they didn't know (and I asked twice) and to send it in to Canfield.  Then they gave me a RA number .

I suspect that the MARS light on these units is not designed to flash in the first place (strange for an expensive product, but I have learned to expect the worse these days) and before I go to the expense and trouble to send it to Canfield, I would like to know that - one way or the other is the MARS light supposed to flash! If you have one of these units, does your MARS flash?

Rick,

I have poured over the Legacy owners manuals and the Legacy 1.3 manual to know avail.  The Legacy 1.3 manual shows numerous helpful touch screen icons which I have never been able to access.  The MARS on/off icons are on page 82 and the engine marker on/off icons are on page 83, which shows icons described as new with v1.3.  Has anyone at all ever accessed these icons on their CAB2?  I asked a Lionel service rep that very question and never got an answer.  I think I will start a new thread to try and find out.

John,

Although I had done this previously, today I reset the lead engine, #51, and reloaded the orange  chip to no avail...  I even reloaded the Aux 2 code.  No difference.

I guess its time to box up the new engine and ship it off to Ohio.

Thanks grp

You are right - I have watched both videos and the Legacy version does not appear to have a flashing MARS and the TMCC version does.  Can you believe that!!

By the way, I did post my concerns on the v1.3 forum about the Legacy v1.3 CAB 2 not showing the touch screen icons I needed .  Marty there has advised me that the orange modules only load the v1.3 features (icons) that the unit itself is built to handle.  Apparently the Legacy version of the PA1 is not built to handle much.

If I send the Legacy PA1 to Lionel for repair, hopefully they will replace the front lighting board with a TMCC version so I can have a flashing MARS.
