A couple days ago I brought home what is my very first Lionel Legacy engine, and what I believe to be an outstanding model. The details are superb, the weight makes the engine feel massive, and the sounds are amazing...well sort of. See I’ve noticed an issue with this and I wondering if I can get some help. Basically there were times on my loop of track on the floor where the sounds cut off; I figured it was at first the antenna on the Command base wasnt fastened property, but after checking that out it was still cutting the sounds on and off. Few mins of running it, I’ve also noticed a pattern: the chuffing, whistle, crew talk, etc would only commence on a right hand curve track, not straight, or left hand curve. I believe it’s the sensor between the engine and the tender, but I’m not sure. What should I do? I love this engine greatly, Lionel did a fantastic job with it, I just would like to have my first Lionel Legacy engine work properly.

As usual, Marty is on top of it.   If for some reason the sensors are aligned, which is the top suspect for this issue, here's the next thing to check.

Check the wires under the heatshrink going to the sensors, I've had a few of them that broke off the IR LED in the locomotive or the IR sensor in the tender.  You can see if one has broken loose by just tugging gently on them, usually one that's become unsoldered will pull out.  Obviously, that's a problem.
