Lionel Legacy SD40 front coupler doesn’t open | O Gauge Railroading On Line Forum

I have a Lionel Legacy SD40 Southern #3170 model 6-84264. When I press the front coupler to open on the Legacy remote, the coupler doesn't open. I hear the electronic sound of it opening but when I touch the front coupler, I don’t feel it trying to open when I press the front coupler button on the Legacy remote.

What would cause this to happen?

Good possibility is a disconnected wire.

I was thinking that but wanted to see if it could be anything else before I open up the engine.
