Anyone know if adding one is possible and the part number if any?  I can't find a parts list on the Lionel website.

The description said electrocoupler(s), but there is only a rear electrocoupler.

Thanks,

I added a front electro coupler to my Warhorse J back in 1998. Cut a slot in the front and used the shell mounting screw to mount it. Connected it to the board in the engine. Worked great. Don’t give up on your project, do some research and make it happen!

I also added a backup light to the tender. All of the connections were there to use on the original boards. I would do as advised and test the rear coupler with the front coupler connection. 👍🏻

Your J is a scale engine with extended pilot. John’s is essentially a post war 2046. John could do this if he hung the whole coupler off the front of the pilot. There just isn’t any room to mount it in position its in on the prototype.

The Warhorse wasn't scale Pete, it was a postwar 746 clone sold with a weathering job.  But I agree with your advice and Pat's.  It would be a very tight fit, the wires have to clear the front truck flanges, etc.  If Craftech (John) really wants to doublehead, a dummy coupler is probably the best way to do it.

"ElectroCouplers ™ on tender"

Jon

I see that down below although that should actually be "ElectroCoupler on tender".

At the top when you look at the page it merely says

Electro Couplers

But yeah, if you buy it from a vendor and the vendor doesn't include all information, as a consumer I guess it is the consumer's responsibility to thoroughly investigate everything at the mfg website to verify that everything is at it appears and not the mfg to make it clear.    I suppose that means reading Electro Couplers at the top,  reading Electrocouplers on tender at the bottom, and finally dropping the plural to know what you are buying.
