I just got word that my Lionel Maine Central GP7 #565 has shipped from Lionel direct to me. I expect it here early next week.  I don't know about Lionel Maine Central GP7s coming from dealers but Lionel will not be shipping from March 1st to March 12th because of their annual physical inventory. Looks like I just made it.  I will post pictures and video when it arrives!

The Maine Central 565 has arrived!  Here are some quick shots. The layout was only built up three weeks ago and is a work in progress. This is my second legacy diesel locomotive and i love how they glide down the tracts. I would like to see other New England Road names in this series fort he legacy GP-7s like Boston and Maine and Providence and Worcester

Looks good! Got a Seaboard one coming from Mr. Muffin.

Great!! Lionel did a great job with the Legacy locomotives. You will be very happy with yours. I am looking forward to adding my Legacy locomotive roster.

BTW, Legacy locomotives can be easily run with a LionChief Universal remote. In fact, I had the TM-4 FM demonstrator and the Maine Central GP-7 running simultaneously on the same loop of track with one Universal remote.

They also made two power units and a dummy. I have one and the dummy. It seems the made to order stuff is hard to get your hands on. I wish Lionel had made a Maine Central dummy unit this time...maybe someday. We should be great ful it only took them how many years to make a harvest gold and green gp? Atlas and MTH beat them to it years ago.

You should definitely try to find these MTH f-3's they are from the most recent catalogue. The MTH stuff is going fast! I have a legacy system and MtH won't work unless I run traditional. I found an MTH mobile commander and wired it up to my layout and it operates the MtH engine with it's remote! Inexpensive work around.

Well my Maine Central engines arrived. They are really cool. Although the paint colors are way off. I give Lionel appreciation for trying. The bluetooth feature is sort of neat, The Lionel app works well with them. Including the voice commands.

Wow. Nice engines. I see what you mean, however, about the colors. The MTH Maine Central F-3s I purchased recently with the reverse color scheme have much more accurate colors.

Pat

If you google Maine Central GP7 562, you will find some pictures of the real engine in the more yellow color  from the 70's and 80's and not the harvest gold  I do not know if the yellow and green are accurate on the lionel  model.  The Maine Central engines I would see in its heyday at Rigby Yard had the harvest gold and green colors color scheme.   The lionel 562 I have is a pleasing engine to me.

My MEC 562 GP7 arrived the other day. Colors look good. They match my Atlas MEC wide vision caboose very well.

The only thing is that the horn is mounted in the wrong spot. It should be on top of the short hood roof, same as the B&M unit pictured above. It can be fixed easily though. The nose mounted bell is a bullseye as far as proper location. Good work by Lionel!

So according to the gentleman who manages upkeep of the road we live on, he worked for Guilford/Maine central. The paint newly applied looked very much like the Lionels and as they aged they got covered with dirt, soot and grime and the paint took on a more orange hue ( like the MTH gp's) ultimately all that matters is that we are all enjoying the hobby. I really wasnt trying to be negative in mentioning the colors. I am glad Lionel decided to to finally do Maine Central engines.

Thank you for the common sense observations!

I bought both the 565 and the 562 from a small shop in NH. Got them about 2 weeks ago. They run great together. The canary yellow color seems a bit on the bright side, but what I'm really wondering is how others like the rail sounds that were programmed in? In particular, the car sounds. To me, that overly loud smash-crash garbage can sound is little more than a wife-waker. I have her used to the drone of a very nice sounding D&H C-642 or CV RS-11 and others that hum around the tracks. Is there any way to turn the extraneous noise off? I tried the iCab with the wifi box, but to no avail. Ditto using CAB1L or the Lionchief App.

I like the green roof but and wanted to paint my MTH GP7. I could never find a green roof geep in all the books and photos with the end rectangle herald. I seen some with the later circle logo only. Also the bottom sill always appeared to be flat black, not green.

I have to wonder if the Lionel green roof is correct?
