I expected the MSRP to be higher than what it is.  399 street price seems pretty good.  Now to wait and see how the Berk turns out...

So orders are being accepted, but nobody knows what the Berk actually looks like yet?

According to impeachable sources, the Berk is being designed so it could be upgraded to a scalified version.  I'm taking that to mean it'll look half way decent for a trainset locomotive.

That's the way it usually works, probably since Gilberts first catalog. Recently IE: SD70,Y3, Challenger, etc.

Well, I have ordered all the items as 'management' has always passed comment that the Xmas tree set up isn't very Christmassy, so this will be a surprise present for her to take an interest in, she will of course get her normal expected pressies as per normal.

I think you will like the looks of the engine!   Compared to other die cast S gauge engines this is priced great and don't forget the Heavyweight cars too!

I hear that there will be several issues of the Berk.  The first ones are in these three sets announced.  Of course you have to buy the complete set to get them.  These Berks will be more Gilbert like in detail that is why they are inexpensive compared to recent engine products. They also use the smaller control system and Legacy won't operate them.

A second issue at some point in the future will be more detailed on the same casting. Probaby with Legacy. Other road names will be on them.
