I have older Lionel Santa Fe Dash 9. One of the motors through testing runs slow. Engine will not move at all. The 2nd motor works but cant since other motor isnt working properly.Sounds are excellent. I tried on Lionel website to order but couldnt get a number. The nos from motor are RS -385 PH RN 530304. Shell nos are10 8252-1-005. I do not have a box it has been misplaced. I'm going through all my older non running engines trying to get them working .Thank you. Bob.

It is a BNSF cab no. 788. The sounds are loud and nice. I bought it at auction.
Looks identical thank you. Do you have one for sale?
Today ordered motor actually 2 figuring old 2nd might have problems also. Order was easy, just observing totals the motors weren't being charged, just shipping so a guy in service confirmed order was good. Thanks again.
Received my motors today. Gun Runner John the motors do not have a wire soldered to outside as originals. Is this important for some reason?? If so I can solder one on.
Thank you for your help. I'll try soldering with grd wire to motor housing shield,I guess it is a shield, its removable from old motors.
Ok . That's where lionel soldered wire. Sooo I won't solder a wire. Thank you.
The motor change takes a turn. The picture you show Gunrunner John looks identical to the motors I received. Looking at old motor the pinion is further off the shaft. soooo , the new motor will engage worm gear but the end will not seat in bearing at bottom of truck. I started cking depth dimensions with dial calipers. There is a difference of .160 to seat in the lower bearing. I measured old and compared with new.So I tried to slide pinion off the shaft to take up this distance with my old slot car gear puller nope didnt touch it. Should I apply heat from propane torch?Any suggestions would be appreciated. Looks like a 'new' puller is the answer. I figured this is a easy swap earlier today. Now!!?
Finally I got pinion moved. I made a heavy duty puller. Drill press, grinder, file, that worked on old motors easily. I tried it on the new motor was tough but got it. I was wondering if a heat gun on pinion with several cycles would have helped? Now I have a puller that will work on anything for my trains.
