Lionel did a nice job on these engines but came up short.... on the handrails...pun intended.   I went ahead and added full length handrails.  Although these are kinematic pilots, I fixed them and added fill to keep the pilot low.  I had to modify the kadee mount to move the coupler in more on the front.  I moved the trucks in, added an air hose on front,  smaller walkway chain, filled the gaps above the trucks and added some piping detail.   Lastly, to make this engine worthy of the Penn Central I made it filthy.

Thanks everyone, it was a fun project.  I plan on doing the same to the Conrail engines except not near as much weathering.  Also, if I can find a decal or template I might cover the Penn central logos and letter and replace with "CR" as they did when they were converting over to Conrail.   Then with weathered Conrail coal hoppers, the whole consist will make a really nice Conrail coal train.

Tom,

  What third rail?

I wish! If ONLY MTH would make a 2 Rail High rail ScaleTrax system. Every single Proto 3/2 engine they have made since 2004 could run happily on 2 rails.  Actually I wouldn't mind if Lionel did it either. Just get rid of the 3rd rail already.

Nice Job Rich. I'm enjoying the new video.
