The boiler front on a Lionel PRR K4, #6-11328 has become loose and is hanging off the front of the boiler.  It looks like there is set screw at base of the boiler which holds the boiler front in position.

Is there a way access this screw without taking the entire boiler off of the frame? It is located at the 6 o'clock position, and there is not enough room between the pilot and the head of the screw to fit a screwdriver, even a small 90 degree angled  one.

Had a quick look through the Lionel website and the operating manual, and I don't see any way of getting at that screw other than by popping the boiler.  If it's anything like the Polar Express Berkshire, though, taking off the boiler is simply a matter of undoing a few screws underneath and lifting the casting off the chassis.

I've taken quite a few locos apart, steam and diesel, and with only a few exceptions, the O-scale steamers, especially the die-cast ones from the Majors, are far easier to open up than almost any diesel (WBB excepted). I have removed several screws from a fancy-schmancy plastic diesel, and still nothing moved. Tabs. Which break. Why are there 6 screws and 6 tabs?

Your steamer should be a breeze. If not, this conversation never happened.
