Because @Dave Olson is a cool guy, he let us borrow the early production sample of the radio tower. For those of you who are wondering what it will look like and what it does, have a look at this video.

Good to hear. I don't preorder much but two items that I did order are the BT radio tower and one of the cam-equipped cabooses.

Can someone find out if Lionel is going to run the complete AFT train- including the three Flat cars with equipment?

No Berk unfortunately. The tooling is being worked on. But I'll have a running sample of the FlyerChief Baldwin Switcher.

Hope people are excited for the York show next week! I'll be there along with Ryan and the rest of the Lionel crew.

Here are some of the samples that we'll have in the booth for everyone to look at:

• VL Niagara - we'll have a couple of new samples including the two-tone gray 20th Century Limited version
• Legacy Pennsy E-6 Atlantic
• Legacy S-3 Hiawatha scheme
• Legacy scale Polar Express Berk
• 6 of our new 66' Mill Gondolas with the graffiti deco
• A sample of our Wi-Fi CuploaCam Caboose - should have this running on the layout with the feed going to a monitor like we did with the Theater Car
• A tooled sample of the Theater Car
• Lots of sample passenger cars and LionScale cars
• Working sample of the Bluetooth Radio Tower
• Working sample of the new LCS IRV2 system

 

This is just a sampling! We'll have lots of things to check out. Hope to see you there. Don't be shy!

Well it better be because I ordered one too!  LOL!

If pictures can be shared it'd be appreciated - for me I'd like to see the Hiawatha and PE Berk.

Wish I could make it, hopefully lots of pics taken so I can see what I'm missing.

Please bring a sample of the new Milwaukee 261 steamer.  I have one on order and want to check it out.

I know it's a one-off, but perhaps in the future you guys could do a Vision S2a Niagara. The S2a was used in tests by the NYC vs. an E7 A-B-A and it won, only losing in the availability category. Pretty much the same tooling except the valve gear, which was Franklin rotary cam poppet valves.

Thanks David,  I appreciated your showing the smoke effects and it almost pushed me over the line to pre-order the Niagara; however, I ended up purchasing the MTH PRR M1b.  Keep up your good work and I will take a chance to buy it  at the York Fall show after its September 2018 delivery.  Your explanation of your modifications to the sensor track as well as your new hardware (at least to me) was very enlightening and appreciated.

This paint scheme just don't do anything for me and kind of reminds me of the gray Hudson they did years ago. It would be interesting to know just how many orders they receive for this particular flavor but it will be like the wise old owl and the totsie pop,we will never know

Was the Santa Fe E-6 AA diesel set on display? Any pics?

Looks like just the Pennsy version was on display. I like the heaps in the coal load.

Did this happen? If so, for those who saw it please share your thoughts and opinions on its performance. Did what you see sway any prior thoughts and opinions you might have had about it? Will you be buying it or not when it's available?

Oh, gosh, say it isn't so. Or, maybe say that it is so.

I've already ordered the new Niagara, but if this is the later J3a (Worthington FWH, raised running boards/relocated power reverse, Scullins, PT tender, maybe even the so-called Selkirk smokebox front - or both types!), there will be blood. 

But a NYC K-5 Pacific or (and/or?!) H-10 Mike would be even better.

Was able to catch a bit of the Dreyfuss inspired Niagara and the new F-3 samples in my video scrapbook around the 2 minute mark. Sorry it's not that long on the Lionel stuff. Will say I was impressed with what I did see.
