Re: Lionel Saw Mill 2301 Maintenance Instructions

I have an original, new in box Lionel 2301 sawmill. When I hook it up to AC power, there is the motor sound with no action. I took off the plastic cover, and the conveyor belt moves intermittently. This has been in storage for a long time. There are no maintenance instructions included in the box.

I think I should lubricate something, however I am not sure what and where to lubricate. I searched the web and could not find the Lionel maintenance manual.

Any ideas on how to get this great operating accessory up and running would be appreciated.

After some more testing, It appears the accessory needs at least 10VAC to operate. It ran better at 12VAC.

Is there any lubrication required to keep it running well?

Do not lubricate the 464/2301. It will only cause problems. The only exception I can think of would be to very lightly treat the pulley axles with powdered graphite.

my current lumber mill sticks, so the log belt runs intermittently. Even when the cover is off, the belt is hesitant/stops. It seems that the two log transport fixtures cause enough friction to make the belt slip, even without the logs running.

Suggestions.?
