Hello, I am thinking about purchasing a this Lionel speeder. It is from 2008. I am running command control but with MTH DCS. I know these are conventionally controlled but I was wondering if I put the speeder on my layout and simply plug the transformer in will it run ok without burning it up? I know it will be running at full speed that way but I don't think they go crazy fast so that should be fine. I of course wouldn't run it for long periods of time that way but I wasn't sure if they can handle 18 or 19 volts. I assume it would be no different then running conventional and cranking it all the way up?

Thanks,

Brad

It will actually go pretty fast with full voltage on it.   You do realize that there are TMCC versions, right?  Also, with DCS, if you are running with the variable channels on the TIU, you can control the voltage using the DCS remote.

I know there are command control ones but I found this one for $45 brand new so figured I would grab it even if I didn't run it much or at all. I know my TIU has the variable voltage ports but I'm in fixed using the App and Wifi. I do not have a remote. I have a conventional transformer and controller I can use but never planned on digging that out again. If it zips along too fast I have the means to run conventional if needed. Just thought it would be a fun addition. Wasn't sure if it would fry the motor with I put power to my track.
